HOW TO CARE FOR YOUR CENTAUREA PLANTS

New installation watering: After installation, all shrubs and evergreens should be watered daily for the first week. If your lawn sprinklers are reaching your shrubbery with water, then there is little or no need for watering. When watering by hand, run water at the regular pressure for approximately 15 seconds per plant. During hot weather, additional watering may be needed.

In the instance where trees are planted in the lawn, they should NOT be watered if new sod has been planted. Trees planted in an established lawn should, however, be watered 3 times per week. Trees planted in a landscape bed should be watered the same as your shrubs and evergreens.

Groundcover should be watered every other day until they are established. They will need watering every day during hot weather.
Established plants: All shrubs should be watered 1-2 times per week, depending on the weather. Trees do not require more watering, except in drought conditions where there is less than 1 inch of rain per week. Groundcover, however, should be watered 3 times per week for 3 months.

Fertilizing: We recommend you fertilize all your shrubs, evergreens, trees, groundcover, and perennials once every 3 weeks. This should be done during the months of April, May, June, July, and August. We suggest you use Miracle-Gro, a water-soluble fertilizer, or Milorganite, a granular fertilizer.

Pruning: All your shrubs and evergreens are pruned for you when they are installed by us. Additional pruning to shape and size your plants can be done as needed. Please visit our other Aftercare Instructions pages for more specific pruning information pertaining to various months of the year.
